The holiday season in downtown Snohomish starts Friday, November 6. It runs for about six weeks and keeps returning to one place, the Snohomish Carnegie Building at 105 Cedar Ave. The tree gets lit there, Santa takes photos there, the Holiday Wine Walk checks in there and the youth art show hangs there. Everything else on the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association calendar pulls you the other way, out along First Street and into shops from one end of the district to the other. Know where the hub is and how the route moves away from it, and you can plan the season as a handful of short walks.
Friday and Saturday Start the Clock on the Windows
The Holiday Open House runs Friday, November 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 7, from noon to 8 p.m. HDSA promises window displays, later shopping hours, treats and drinks, and live music around town.
The music is all on Saturday:
- Rustic Reeds, noon to 2 p.m., outside My Eclectic Home
- Tarnished Brass, 5 to 7 p.m., outside My Eclectic Home
- Erika Scordamaglia, 5 to 7 p.m., outside Peaches Boutique
The second set doubles up at 5 p.m. in two spots, so you can pick a storefront and stay put or walk between the two.
What matters past the weekend is that the Open House also starts the Window Display Contest. It runs from November 6 through December 13. You vote by QR code, and voting enters you in a raffle for a $25 gift card to a downtown business. The drawing is December 15, and the winning store gets an HDSA award.
The contest closes the same Sunday Winterfest ends, so the windows run the whole length of the season. They're the one part of it you can catch on any evening walk, without a ticket or a set time.
November 28: The Hub Lights Up
HDSA and the City of Snohomish put on the free tree lighting at the Carnegie Building on Saturday, November 28. Santa arrives at 3 p.m., a countdown with live music starts at 4:45, and the tree lights at 5.
Last year's lighting was November 29, 2025, with the same 3 p.m. arrival, 4:45 countdown and 5 p.m. lighting. Both years the lighting falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and the schedule matches to the minute. For families who build the long weekend around it, that slot is the thing to remember from year to year.
Sunset comes early in late November, so the 5 p.m. lighting arrives just as it gets dark. Come at 3 for Santa and you'll spend two hours downtown before the main event. That gap is when the First Street shops get busy.
Santa Leaves the Hub the Next Morning
The day after the lighting, Santa moves into the shops. Santa in the Shops runs Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m., starting Sunday, November 29, and ending Sunday, December 20. Each weekend day has a different host business. It's free; bring your own camera. HDSA says all participating locations are ADA accessible.
| Date | Host | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday, Nov. 29 | Spada Farmhouse Brewery | 709 1st St |
| Saturday, Dec. 5 | Snohomish General Store | 922 1st St |
| Sunday, Dec. 6 | The Raven and the Swan | 119 Glen Ave |
| Saturday, Dec. 12 | Anna Marie Collective | First Street |
| Sunday, Dec. 13 | Snoqualmie Ice Cream | 923 1st St |
| Saturday, Dec. 19 | Sprig Beauty Co. | 1204 1st St |
| Sunday, Dec. 20 | Peaches | 1024 1st St, Suite 104 |
Laid out by address, the route spans the district. It starts at Spada in the 700 block, a family-owned brewery and restaurant that opened in 2016 and serves Wednesday through Sunday. Halfway through, it turns off First Street to Glen Avenue. Near the end it reaches the 1200 block, where Sprig Beauty Co. is open until 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. If you're going for a photo, check the date against the table before you park. Santa is in only one shop per weekend day, and a shop at the wrong end of the street means a longer walk with small kids.
The December 12 and 13 stops fall during Winterfest, which turns the shop visits into part of a much bigger weekend.
December 11 to 13: Everything Converges
Winterfest packs the season into three days, and it pulls the shops, the restaurants and the Carnegie Building into one schedule. HDSA calls the schedule subject to change and says ticket prices and registration links are still to come.
Friday, December 11
- Gingerbread House Party with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Top It Yogurt Shoppe, 2 to 3 p.m.
- Santapalooza, a holiday pub crawl with a costume contest, 5 to 9 p.m.

Santa Photos with Pets is on the Winterfest list too, but its time and location haven't been announced. The City of Snohomish calendar still shows the Reindeer Games as pending a permit, so treat it as planned until it's confirmed.
Saturday shows the hub and the spread most clearly. The Carnegie Building has Santa photos from noon to 6, then checks in the Wine Walk from 4 to 8. Meanwhile Fire & Ice is out at Andy's Fish House, which HDSA's directory lists at 1229 First St, at the far end of the business district from Spada. If you want the s'mores and the Wine Walk on the same day, it's a long, easy walk, and the window displays line most of it.
The Breakfast with Santa venue has its own history. The Feather Ballroom on First Street says its building dates to 1906.
The Parlour Tour Goes Inside
Sunday's Parlour Tour is the one Winterfest event that leaves the storefronts. The Snohomish Historical Society opens 15 historic homes and churches from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, and the tour is the Society's major fundraiser of the year. The Winterfest listing describes the homes as decorated for the holidays. It overlaps the Youth Art Show at the Carnegie and the last day of window voting, which makes December 13 the fullest Sunday of the season. That same afternoon, Santa is at Snoqualmie Ice Cream.
Next Year's Route Will Use Different Streets
This is likely the last holiday season downtown with the current traffic pattern. The City of Snohomish October 6, 2026 bulletin says the downtown traffic study is complete and the city has chosen a clockwise circulation plan, which makes Avenue B and Avenue C one-way. The city expects the change to smooth traffic flow and add right-turn movements that may make it easier to circle for parking. Its consultant, Transpo Group, is designing the roadway changes, pavement markings, signs and traffic controls, and the city expects to finish in spring 2027.
The same study found that downtown traffic volumes have dropped since the last study in 2017, and that intersections operate within the city's adopted standards. The city's initial findings presentation lays out the proposed changes for anyone who wants to see how Avenues B and C will work.
So for this season, getting from the Carnegie Building on Cedar to a Santa stop at 1204 First St works the way it always has. If the city finishes on its spring 2027 schedule, next year's holiday crowds will find Avenues B and C running one way between the hub and the shops.
If Winterfest has you walking past your own block and wondering what your home a few streets off First Street would sell for, The Erickson Group can give you an honest local number before the new traffic pattern, which the city expects to finish in spring.
